RRP ALERT
Here are some reminders for Mystic Air clients:
(1) If you are due for a refresher as a Certified Lead Renovator and your last class was at our training center - then search out an on-line refresher course. It will keep you Certified for another three years. But you must do it before your current certificate expires !!!
(2) Lead Renovator Firms - You can still renew your Certification on line with EPA. Use your search engine and type in "Lead Renovation Firm Certification Application or Update." If you have trouble getting onto the website phone your Region 1 representative Rober Carr at 617-918-1607.
(3) While you still have Certified Renovators at your company - have them "pass along" training and have more employees become "non-certified renovators." This will bolster your work force, even though only Certified Renovators can check for test for lead paint, oversee work set-up, and conduct cleaning verification at job's end.
(4) For a full description of the Lead RRP Program use your search engine and type in "US EPA LEAD RRP."
Are you RRP Lead-ready in 2023 ???
US EPA RRP Certified Lead Renovators:
2020 marks the 2nd 5 year cycle for most of the original Renovators' training - 2010 - 2015 - 2020 (except those who chose to renew on line).
Mystic Air Quality Consultants will no longer teaches the EPA RRP classes starting in 2022
OSHA Considerations – Lead Related
As an employer with employees who are being assigned tasks related to lead and lead exposure, please be aware that this EPA Lead RRP training is only a portion of what federal laws require you to provide.
This RRP Firm Certification and Certified Renovator program training for its employees is essential to compliance with EPA’s requirements placed upon property owners and operators to assure that lead paint hazards in dust and debris are not left behind after certain renovation and demolition activities.
However, there are also employee-employee requirements and protections established in rules and regulations promulgated by the US Department of Labor (OSHA) that apply.
To fulfill our obligation to inform you of these other requirements, that exist beyond and in addition to the EPA Lead RRP rule, please see below additional employer lead-activity-specific program details and cost disclosure:

PLEASE NOTE:
Federal and State Pre-Requisites
FOR ASBESTOS TRAINING
Training Pre-Requisites Accreditation
Mystic Air is required by the conditions of its certification as a training provider to make certain of compliance with the following conditions:
For all MAP asbestos related refresher course sign-ups, registrants must provide Mystic Air with a copy of a current (unexpired) initial or refresher training certificate for the discipline you want refreshed. Expired training certificates less than one year past expiration date are still recognized for entrance to a refresher class. Expired training certificates more than two years past expiration date can not be accepted for entrance into a refresher class, as federal and state agencies require individuals with such expired accreditations to register for an initial training program to become accredited again.
For Asbestos Management Planner initial training, a participant needs to have completed the initial Asbestos Inspector training and be currently accredited as an Asbestos Inspector.
Educational and Experiential Pre-Requisites State Licensing & Certification
State of Connecticut Health Department licensing regulations require applicants for Asbestos Project Monitor and Inspector disciplines to hold an Associates or a Bachelor's Degree in science or a related field; while applicants for Asbestos Project Designer and Management Planner disciplines must have a Bachelor's Degree in science or a related field.
As such, Mystic Air Quality Consultants, Inc. is reluctant to enroll individuals knowingly who will not meet State-based licensing or certification requirements, however, Mystic Air assumes no responsibility for verification of these non-accreditation requirements and is held harmless by graduates who lack such requirements.
SPECIAL NOTICE CONCERNING RHODE ISLAND ASBESTOS LICENSING & TRAINING
Effective March 2003 and reiterated in 2012, the Rhode Island Department of Health licensing protocols for asbestos disciplines require class participants to submit either an original course completion certificate, or a certified copy of training certificates, during licensing application. Participants who inform Mystic Air of their intent to apply for an asbestos license in Rhode Island will be gladly given a certified copy of their certificates, in addition to the original; upon payment for the class and specific request for a certified copy.
Also
Rhode Island is still party to the CONES agreement. Mystic Air Quality initial and refresher training for asbestos abatement supervisor and worker, asbestos inspector, management planner, and project designer are all acceptable to the Department for Rhode Island licensing. Since this training is based on the CONES program rather than the State's own training certification program, Mystic Air's courses are not found on the RI State's published list of accredited training providers.
RI Certification Notice
Mystic Air Quality has suspended its Rhode Island certification for Operations and Maintenance initial training or refresher training (Rhode Island refers to this certification as 14 hour competent person training and 8 hour annual review) effective Janaury 2011.
Massachusetts & New York
Mystic Air Quality Consultants does not carry training provider approval to present Asbestos Associated Project Worker for applicability in either Massachusetts or New York. Ths is the training terminology in these jurisdictions
for OSHA Class III (16 hour) training.
Mystic Air respectfully requests that prospective training registrants
contact other State jurisdictions in advance
to clarify their acceptance of training certificates from Mystic Air Quality Consultants
for the purpose of that jurisdiction's licensing requirements.
Thank you for understanding. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
But prior checking will help you avoid ill-spent time and money and
subsequent delays in getting the licensing you desire.
