Initial Training 5 days Refresher Training 1 day annually - Asbestos Operations & Maintenance
- This class is also referred to as OSHA Class III Training and training for "Spot Repairs" or "Small Scale Short Duration (SSSD) activities.
- This class is for maintenance and custodial personnel and other trades-persons who may have to interact with or disturb small amounts of asbestos containing materials in the course of accessing a building component they need to service or maintain, as well as any necessary operations to repair or replace small amounts of asbestos containing materials.
- In Connecticut, the limitation on the amount of material to be so disturbed during a work task is 3 linear or 3 square feet of asbestos-containing material.
- Particularly in schools, this work is not intended for the purpose of extracting asbestos from the building. The intent is to conduct a maintenance activity or perform a routine service operation, which first necessitates the removal and/or subsequent repair of asbestos containing materials physically existing as an obstacle to that maintenance activity or routine service operation operation.
- The class combines classroom presentations and hands-on activities.
- (Please note graduates of this class are not certified to conduct this work in NYC, NY, MA or RI).
- Initial Training 2 days Refresher Training 1 day annually
- Asbestos Awareness Training
- This class is 2 hours in length. It meets the requirements of the OSHA General Industry Standard and the EPA and CT DPH Asbestos-in-Schools Regulations for custodial personnel who will contact but not disturb Asbestos Containing Building Materials.
- Annual refreshers at employers' sites are topic driven and do not have to be any particular duration of time.
- Typically this class is advertised as the first two hours of the scheduled 16 hour O&M course. Employers may call to set up a dedicated class at our facility or theirs.
